Two solo pieces created and performed by PTTP alumni Carine Montbertrand and Robert Ramirez. Carine created her clown character while studying in Paris for "The Tragic Destiny of Etiennette Duchamps". Robert performed "Estimated Time of Arrival". |

The Real Thing |

PTTP alumni return for Tom Stoppard's uncomfortable play within a play. Hard to connect with insincere, dishonest characters. |

Macbeth |
Delaware Theatre Company |

This is one of those plays to see over and over again, and it was pleasure to see PTTP grad Kathleen Pirkl Tague reprise her role as Lady Macbeth from her student days in 1996. |

The Tragedy of King Lear |
Hartshorn Theatre-PTTP |
Newark, DE |
|
Could there be a more difficult assignment than to be handed King Lear as the first play for the class of 2003? Part of the fun of PTTP is to watch them grow during their tenure, but this class started out with a bang. Michael Gotch got his shot at the lead. |

The first year students finish the semester with another Shakespeare classic. Always amazing how they can pull it off, but again they do. Sarah Fallon as Rosaline. |

Titanic: The Musical |

Never fails to amaze when a touring Broadway production can't hold a candle to our local graduate training program. Not that is was the actors fault, this was just a forgettable play. |

Mark Twain Tonight |

Just as enjoyable for us as a repeat performance, as it seemed to be for Hal Holbrook who has been performing Mark Twain since 1954. |

The Doctor's Dilemma |

Dreading another Shaw play, but was pleasantly surprised. Clever skewering of the medical profession led by Lynn Berg as Sir Colenso Ridgeon. |

Oscar Wilde created the best collection of witticisms that have become part of the public consciousness, yet somehow this play left no impression at all. |

Just in time for St. Paddy's Day. Credited with breaking the mold of Irish dancing and laying the foundation for Riverdance and the other knockoffs that are now considered the standard. |

Three stinkers in a row, though not the fault of the actors. A fine Spring day shouldn't end with Franz Kafka. Lynn Berg as Joseph K. |

Never sure if i should list opera under Concerts or theatre, since the theatre equalled the music. May have been my first Gilbert and Sullivan opera, and I enjoyed it more than expected. OperaDelawre - give us more! |

The Winter's Tale |

This is more like it. A big Shakespeare production with large cast and a couple of musicians. This is what PTTP does best. Michael Gotch as Leontes and Krista Forster as Hermione. |

Oedipus Rex |
Hartshorn Theatre-PTTP |

Went into this one with great trepidation. An ancient bilingual Sophocles play with Japanese actors and director performed in the round. If it hadn't been part of the PTTP season, we wouldn't have ventured to see it, which would have been a big loss. Since the play is already so difficult, it didn't really matter that the lead actors spoke Japanese. Director Tadashi Suzuki put on a mesmerizing show. |

Saint Joan |

Joan of Arc may be legendary, but I didn't realize how little I knew of her story until seeing this play. Sarah Fallon did a great job as Joan in her struggle against Church and State. |

A Delicate Balance |
Delaware Theatre Company |

The play won a Pulitzer Prize for Edward Albee in 1967, but it was another in a series of DTC disappointments. Memorable only in the the fact that Annette Hunt was in the cast, who formerly played Harriet on Ajax commercials. Yeah, that's how bad it was. |

One of the better Beatles tribute acts, performed by former cast members of Beatlemania. Three acts - Ed Sullivan Era, Sgt. Pepper and Abbey Road/Let It Be. Very realistic in both looks and sound. Can only imagine what it might have sounded like if the Beatles had performed live in their final years, but this was probably pretty close. |

Not being Catholic, much of the humor went over my head, but the star power help alleviate that. For this 20th anniversary tour, the nuns included Kaye Ballard, Georgia Engel, Mimi Hines, Darlene Love and Lee Meriwether. Biggest thrill was hearing Darlene Love belt out the tunes. |

Lynn Redgrave and Karina Mackenzie star in the debut of the too short lived Contemporary Theatre Company. I concur with the reviewer who found it wordy in the beginning, but ending powerfully. It was a treat to see such a distinguished actor in a small intimate setting. |

James Earl Jones, Leslie Uggams, and Linda Powell (Colin's daughter) star in a pre-Broadway run of a reworking of the classic Henry Fonda/Kathryn Hepburn film. I liked it a lot, and although it only lasted on Broadway for a few months, it did garner two Tony nominations. |
