Diversified my musical interests greatly in the 90's, thanks in part to Erin's gifts of complementary tickets to Grand Opera House performances.

10-23-92 Bob Dylan Bob Carpenter Center Newark, DE notenote
One of my all time favorite artists, but a poor performer. His disdain for the audience is palpable and unwarranted. (set list)
11-18-92 10,000 Maniacs Bob Carpenter Center Newark, DE notenotenote
Good show in spite of the poor acoustics, but Barbara got annoyed by Natalie Mechant's twirling.

85th birthday party for the great gypsy violinist. Along with Bucky Pizzarelli and Mark O'Connor.
11-14-93 George Thorogood Bob Carpenter Center Newark, DE notenotenote
No gimmicks, hometown boy sticks to the the basic blues based rock that made him a star. Barbara was put off my too many drinking songs, but the crowd loved him.
01-15-94 ODC/San Francisco Grand Opera House Wilmington, DE note
I don't have a separate category for dance, so I added here since the music was the best part, composed by Bobby McFerrin.
03-14-94 Christine Lavin Mitchell Hall Newark, DE notenotenote
One quarter, and founder, of the Four Bitchin' Babes, brought her satirical wit to UD. I took my Bald Headed friend, Didi Steffens, but he didn't appreciate her humor.
05-29-94 9th Annual Jambalaya Jam Penn's Landing Philadelphia, PA notenote
The idea of a waterfront entertainment venue is great in theory, but Philly's version falls short. Uncomfortable concrete benches and poorly laid out. Took away most of the pleasure of seeing The Neville Brothers, Dr. John, Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Randy Newman.
04-20-95 Mary Chapin Carpenter w Mavericks Bob Carpenter Center Newark, DE notenotenote
Joanne birthday present. Not a big country fan, but I loved the show.
12-08-95 Judy Collins Bob Carpenter Center Newark, DE note
Loved her in her folkie days, but her lounge act was tedious and pretentious.

07-27-97 Lilith Fair Blockbuster Pavilion Camden, NJ notenotenote
Sarah McLachlan's chick show. Highlights from the side stages were Jill Sobule and Juliana Hatfield. Fiona Apple's rollicking performance opened the main stage, followed by the better than expected Joan Osborne, the very disappointing Cardigans and then Tracy Chapman stole the show before Sarah could close out.

Bridges to Babylon tour. Blues Traveler opened, nose bleed seats, but with giant screens, didn't matter. Opened with Satisfaction and fireworks and did a nice stripped down set in the middle on a small stage in the center of the floor. Great computer graphics throughout show. Fantastic show.

Highlight of this year's Musikfest, not many males in the audience... Other favorites included Diane Ponzio , and Runa Pacha.
10-05-98? Tori Amos Bob Carpenter Center Newark, DE notenote
Good music, but the sound in that cavernous gym was atrocious.

Photo 08-17-99 An Evening with Branford Marsalis Musikfest Bethlehem, PA notenote

09-26-99 Beausoleil avec Michael Doucet Grand Opera House Wilmington, DE note

Dar Williams, Lucy Kaplansky and Richard Shindell- wonderful together and solo.
10-22-99 Arlo Guthrie Grand Opera House Wilmington, DE notenote
Backed by the Delaware Symphony Orchestra made for an interesting interpretation of his classic songs, but prevented any spontaneity.
11-24-99 Arturo Sandoval and The Latin Train Band Grand Opera House Wilmington, DE notenote
Unknown to me at the time, but loved Cuban trumpeter's show. Subsequent HBO movie filled in his background and struggle to get to US.

Great tribute band performing primarily the later Beatle years.
12-01-99 George Shearing Grand Opera House Wilmington, DE note
Nice to hear a legend, but it was a bit too mellow. Attended with Chip Toner.
