Something a little different for the Resident Ensemble Players, an old fashioned mystery, though not a who-dun-it. We see the murder, we just don't know if the bad guy will get away with it. I guess I need to see the Hitchcock movie version. The usual stellar acting from the regulars and classy set which we have come to expect.

Small intimate production with the audience sitting on the stage. Executive Director Bud Martin becomes an actor for only the second time in 37 years but 7 time veteran of the DTC stage, Karen Peakes carries the show with her manic performance. She has become my favorite on the DTC stage.

This is the third time we have seen this group using "Wadaiko" (Japanese Drums) and the most enjoyable, possibly because we were in the front row. The added a little high tech by using hover-boards and lighted suits, but it is the traditional drumming that makes the show. They tour the US every two years and I hope to see them again in 2020.

Bawdy farce with an extra large cast collaborating with the Westport Country Playhouse. Highlighting the dangers of assumptions and lust with perfect comic timing. Over the top performances from regulars Mic Matarese and Michael Gotch.

Disappointing. Cast was competent, but unable to excite the audience. I was also put off by the decadence and despair through there are a few memorable tunes.

I can appreciate the hard work and training required to be a professional dancer, and I also acknowledge the pleasure one can experience by dancing, but I get no kick out of watching others dance. This play closely followed the plot line of the movie but it was primarily about dancing and I was bored. Gets a star for the nostalgia of the songs and for the current events of 1963.

A visit from the Breitigans was built around seeing this live performance of one of Cannon's favorite TV shows. It did not disappoint as he and all the kids in the audience went Wild indeed.

As with any Shakespeare play, it is always a challenge to follow both the plot and to keep the characters straight, but this production made it very accessible. A co-production with The Acting Company the play heads to Brooklyn's Shakespeare Center for REP's New York debut. Great job.

Freda Payne did a fine job singing though she didn't sound like Ella Fitzgerald. The acting left something to be desired and while Ella's life story was interesting, and previously unknown to me, the play just didn't have much of a spark. It was developed for DTC by Maurice Hines and I wish it luck but it will need some adjustments.

First show of the season, and it was a good one. The fourth play by Bruce Graham presented by DTC and like last year's White Guy On The Bus, very thought provoking, relevant and well staged. Disturbing to think of how prevalent both college athletic scandals and campus sexual assault may be.

A small play with big characters. Kathleen Pirkl-Tague was outstanding as Lettice, a larger than life, intelligent, well educated woman but unprepared for modern life. Elizabeth Heflin shed her usual leading lady role for a equally out of step, frustrated, and dowdy character as Lovage and a worthy counterpoint to Lettice.

The REP's male veterans plus one equally good guest in a drunken slice of Irish catholic's demons. Effective use of three pop recordings even though only one was Celtic. All of the characters were sad, yet with a happy ending.

Bravura performance by Kraig Swartz as not only Sam the beleaguered reservation desk clerk of a high end restaurant, but also the dozens of callers he had to contend with. Occasionally got annoying because one felt the stress of his job, but he was able to escape at the end.

Third time we have seen this and it remains the funniest play ever. No big names in the cast, but they were excellent, especially Kasidy Devlin as Sir Robin. Always look on the bright side of life.

Knowing full well that tribute acts are usually a poor substitute for the real thing, my expectations for the night were low. I was however pleasantly surprised that these youngsters were able to present both the music and the background stories so well.

An unoriginal storyline of a small town girl moving to the big city, but the narrative brought out the best of 60's pop songs which I had enjoyed but didn't previously take seriously. I will never listen to Last Train To Clarksville the same way again, now that the play associated it with a draftee leaving for boot camp. The lead, Chilina Kennedy did a great job though the sound-man couldn't keep her volume consistent.

An uncomfortable, but occasionally amusing, view of a woman slowing coming unhinged. Spectacular performance by Elizabeth Heflin who is fully aware of her descent into madness, but helpless to prevent it.
