We really lucked out on this one. Booked at Park Hotel next door, but due to a wedding, we were moved to this premier hotel as a substitute.

Classy place, but isolated from the city attractions. There is a great small restaurant a few doors down though, Konoba Pizzeria Blidinje, with rooftop dining.

Looses a star for having no host on site, and for misappropriating Aaron Burr's name since he never stayed there. Good breakfast though and charming house.

Sounded like a good idea, but greatly overpriced and in an inconvenient location. Needed to take a bus just to get something to eat, and a long ride to the parks.

Took a chance on a Groupon deal. Beautiful original home, but most rooms were in a modern addition. Still nice, but not what we expected. Saving grace was that there was a brew pub on site.

Second stay is a Disney Value Resort, and while plain and simple, it's convenient and a good deal.

Not usually a fan of modern hotels, but this was nice. Lost a point because they wouldn't allow me to use the indoor pool without a swim cap even though I have more hair on my chest than on my head.

Spent a couple of days on The Turkish Riviera, and while the water was still chilly in May, got to dip my toes in the Mediterranean.

Nearing the end of our trip, I finally was able to experience a Turkish Bath, and I had it all to myself. Very upscale hotel, though there wasn't much else in that neighborhood.

Very classy Historic Hotel of America. Losses one star for having no breakfast or pool, but very friendly staff, bathroom with all the bells and whistles and beautiful architecture.

Not historic, but has an old world feel to it. Scored a Groupon deal for bed, breakfast and valet parking in the Shockoe Slip district of Richmond. Good breakfast (though snooty waiters), and great location.

Been visiting Bethlehem for over 20 years, but this is the first time staying at this Inn. Owners live a few blocks away, which I find annoying, but friendly and helpful while at the excellent breakfast. Not as fancy as Sayre Mansion, but more reasonably priced. Will have to keep this on our short list of Bethlehem choices.

While the thin walls allows one to hear EVERYTHING in the net room, it's still a unique experience staying on this former luxury liner. Second stay while attending a professional meeting in Long Beach.

Should have stayed longer. Used as a base to explore the surrounding area but didn't stay long enough to visit the nearby Gaslamp district. Recently renovated, but again, didn't have time to take advantage of the amenities.

Convenient location, 2 blocks from Central Park and a few from the subway, and reasonably priced, but nothing special. We did have a large suite though where Jason was able to stay up late while the rest of rest slept.

Very classy former embassy in the great DuPont Circle neighborhood. Good breakfast and congenial host. Even got to park for free next door at the Guatemalan embassy.

Magnificent lobby, great breakfast buffet, convenient location and walls adorned with photos of entertainers who performed in their Empire Room. Only disappointment was the steep charge for parking.

We rarely stay at chain hotels, but this was the closest available to the Irish Festival. Turned out to be quite nice, had a large suite and started each day with a swim in their salt water pool.

First use of our VW camper. Got a nice spot overlooking the marsh, but the weekend was unseasonably cold. Went with a group of Jess's friends for a Halloween event.

Not a big ship cruise fan, but this was our first try at a small ship river cruise, which we enjoyed quite a bit. No casino, no shopping mall, no smoking, no tacky entertainment made for a very pleasant means of transportation. Food and guide were quite good as well.

Return stay for Celtic Classic. Only 2 blocks from Main Street in quiet Historic District. Breakfast is now an option and at $20 we ate in town instead, but fine building in a beautiful neighborhood.

Cheap with free parking, but a bit of a misnomer since there was no breakfast. On the bright side, we got an entire villa, and while we didn't use the kitchen, we did take the opportunity to use the washing machine. Fine for what it is, but nothing special.

Our stay for the SSSA annual meeting. Our first choice for a city stay is usually an Historic Hotel of America, but this one is well past it's prime.

We used this dude ranch as a base to visit National Park sites in southern Arizona, but didn't take advantage of the activities on site. Next time we'll have to come prepared with our riding boots and a hat.

I rarely document stays at chain hotels and we didn't choose this one. The location was good but there was mold in the air conditioner which gave me a tremendous headache.

Semi-charming town that has seen better days, but this old mansion seems to be the highlight of the town. Great breakfast and friendly owners.

Great location directly on the beach and plenty of room for all of us as we begin my Retirement Celebration Trip. The house was in dire need of some TLC with broken showers, door knobs and most disappointedly, a non functioning hot tub.

Nice hotel near the airport but 45 minutes from center city. Had hoped to go to opening day of Oktoberfest, but was too tired and it was too far to go.

Nearly identical to the ship we took on a Rhine River cruise last year, even with the same tour guide.

After spending a week on a ship, it was an delight to not only stay in this historic hotel, but to score an upper floor corner suite over looking the Tauber valley. It has been a hotel since 1479 and is in the heart of this charming medieval town.

Surprisingly inappropriate architecture in this colonial town, but convenient with some nice touches such as our greeting gifts. Looses a point though for a lame prepackaged cold breakfast.
