This place is a triple threat, built in 1891 the spacious hotel rooms now serve as B&B's, an excellent fine dining restaurant and a brewery in the basement. Very satisfactory Travelzoo purchase for two nights included lodging, breakfast, dinner and a flight of beers. |

The most disappointing Historic Hotel of America we have visited. Got a good deal through Travelzoo but this collection of buildings in what is now a strip shopping center was underwhelming. Our first room was unique and was probably in what was previously a barn or stables, but the sewer had backed up and the room smelled like urine. We were moved to a different building which was nice enough, but nothing special, though we were treated to our neighbors' conversations through the paper thin walls. Gets points for an excellent dinner. |

Located in a 236-year-old restored convent in a very charming "Magical" former silver mining town. Large room with fireplace overlooking a courtyard. |

Beautiful courtyard with a lot of potential, but weak WiFi, unprepared for breakfast and the air conditioning was pitiful. Had to move to another room during the night since the room was so hot. |

Incredible location on the rim of Copper Canyon and we somehow scored a corner suite with a 180 degree view of the canyon. |

We stayed at some very nice properties on our tour of Mexico, but this was not one of them. Standard issue motel, clean but nothing special. |

When traveling our first choice, if available, is an Historic Hotels of America property. Booked this one specifically for that reason even though it was over a half hour away from Annie's apartment. If one was a golfer or tennis player, I can see the appeal, but being neither there was nothing there for us. |

Looked nice from the outside, but no one on site to greet us, called a 800 number and left a message. Someone did eventually show up but we couldn't check in for six hours. Killed a roach in the bedroom when we finally got in, so won't be returning. |

First overnight rail trip on 5 different trains. Relaxing way to travel, but suffered a little claustrophobia and certainly tried our patience. One train was 10 hours late. Food was surprisingly good. Unique experience but probably won't be doing many more. |

East Glacier Park Lodge |
East Glacier Park, MT |

Built by the Great Northern Railroad to entice visitors to go West. Grand lobby built with native timbers and our room had this nice veranda, but the room itself was nothing special. On the edge, but isolated from most of Glacier National Park, so would choose a different historic hotel on the next visit. |

Ideal location in the heart of Chicago with a view of the Wrigley building from our room. A little too much modern glitz for my taste though. |

Beautiful restoration of an Historic Hotel of America resort and has a fascinating history. Losses a point since the spa was disappointing and the real money maker is the convention center and casino which is a blemish on the property. |

Our home for the first two nights in Morocco. We had one of the front facing rooms that only had a small balcony and trafic noise. The ones in the back had a full balcony and no noise, but it was comfortable, good breakfast and centrally located. Nice patio as well. |

Luxurious hotel ironically situated in an apparently bad part of town. It didn't appear so but our guide advised us not to walk around at night but I think he was overly cautious. Only spent one night so didn't explore the facilities. |

01-21-20 Hotel Xaluca Casbah, Meknès-Tafilalet, Morocco **** Favorite hotel of the trip with the best food. Wish we could have stayed here longer, as we had little time to indulge in the facilities. The room sinks were even made from local fossils. |

01-22-20 Ibis Quarzazate Centre Hotel, Quarzazate, Morroco ** Our guide apologized profusely about how this hotel was below Gate 1's standards but was the only option in town. It may not have been luxurious but it was fine and we've stayed in much worse. |

Le Méridien N'Fis |

Top notch hotel in a city with an abundance of luxury. It looses a point though since it was quite noisy being across the street from a busy mall with outdoor entertainment and for getting locked out of room several times. As we were checking out they had to drill out the lock since we couldn't get the door open and I almost missed the bus. |
